Sri Lanka goods exports up 3.51-pct in Jan 2025 helped by US, India
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s merchandise exports grew 3.51 percent to 1,004.82 million dollars in January 2024 with apparel exports rising 21 percent to 460.22 million US dollars, the island’s Export Development Board said.
Tea grew 10.3 percent to 112.7 million US dollars, and coconut-based products were up 31.98 percent to 74.29 million US dollars, spices were up 32.9 percent to 38.99 million US dollars and processed foods and beverages were up 23 percent to 41.75 million US dollars.
Rubber based products were down 8.15 percent to 75.06 million dollars and electronic components were down 28.23 percent to 42.29 million US dollars.
The US was the top buyer of Sri Lankan goods at 260 million US dollar up 18 percent, India was up 43 percent to 81.9 million US dollars and the United Kingdom was up 17.8 percent to 79.5 million Us dollars.
Canada was down 25.4 percent to 16.2 million US dollars and the UAE was down 17 percent to 24.53 million US dollars. (Colombo/Feb26/2025)
