Port of Liverpool unveils new deep water bulk berth
The Port of Liverpool has inaugurated a new deep water bulk berth, marking a significant enhancement to its cargo handling capabilities.
This is the first deep water bulk berth to open at the UK port in four decades, located within Peel Ports Group’s Alexandra Complex. The development, which represents a £2 million (US$2.5 million) investment by Peel Ports, is part of a broader initiative to modernize the Alexandra Complex.
The berth can accommodate vessels up to handymax sizes. Together with the existing N3 Alex berth, this new facility will boost the vessel handling capacity at both the Alexandra Complex and the entire Port of Liverpool.
Phill Hall, Mersey Port Director at Peel Ports Group, emphasized the importance of this development, stating that this improvement will lead to more efficient cargo operations and help maintain fluid supply chains.
