Houthi Attacks Target Passing Vessels in the Red Sea
The Houthi claimed responsibility for attacking the three US supply vessels. They claimed that they directly hit the vessels with drones and missiles. The US supply ships in question were claimed by the Houthi to be the MAERSK SARATOGA, the STENA IMPECCABLE, and the LIBERTY GRACE.
The US military confirmed the attack on three US-owned vessels that were passing through the Red Sea between 30th November to 01st December. However, the US military did not name the vessels and, contrary to the Houthi statement, claimed that the vessels were unharmed.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that their destroyers, USS Stockdale and the USS O’Kane, destroyed three anti-ship ballistic missiles, three drones, and an anti-ship cruise missile in defense of the three commercial vessels that were being attacked. It has not yet been revealed if the journey of these vessels was aborted on account of the attack.
In a separate incident, the United Kingdom Maritime and Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency reported of an attack on 1st December around 80 miles south of Aden at 9:32 AM UTC. The UKMTO has posted a warning in the region for vessels to proceed with caution.
