Cosco trials Chancay port operations, launches car carrier service
Cosco Shipping's Chancay Port, Peru, began trial operations with the unloading of vehicles and other transportation products from MV Cosco Shipping Honour, and the departure of MV Cosco Teng Fei on a new international car carrier service.
The voyage of MV Cosco Teng Fei inaugurated the monthly direct Far East-South America West Coast service of Yuanhai Car Carrier, a joint venture between Cosco Shipping Specialised Carriers, SIPG Logistics, and SAIC Anji Logistics. The 2011-built ship, carrying 2,756 vehicles, set sail from Shanghai,China, to Chancay, Peru, and will call other destinations in South America.
This new route is the fourth liner service launched by the company, following the successful establishment of routes to the Persian Gulf, Southeast Africa, and Europe, said Cosco Shipping.
The monthly sailing schedule will see calls at Chancay, Peru, and San Antonio, Chile with additional ports of call in Colombia, Ecuador, and other countries within the region, according to market demands.
Cosco Shipping said it was committed to enhancing the comprehensive automotive logistics supply chain services around Chancay Port, with services including including warehousing, Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), distribution, and more
