Gemini Cooperation’s US4 service debuts from Nansha
The new Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd alliance’s South China and Southeast Asia to US East Coast service has started its maiden voyage from Nansha.
The US4 service is part of the Gemini Cooperation’s new hub and spoke network. The service calls Nansha and Yantian in South China, onwards to Vung Tau in Vietnam, Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia, and Sri Lanka’s Colombo before sailing direct to the US East Coast.
The US4 service deploys fifteen 14,000 teu large containerships to build a direct "Nansha-East Coast of the United States" express line and has made its debut in Nansha, Guangzhou in South China.
The port said that operation of this service could significantly shorten the cross-border logistics cycle, reduce the pressure of overseas warehousing for enterprises, and provide guarantees for the collaboration of cross-border industrial chains, especially for goods such as electronic products and smart equipment.
Gemini will cover seven trades and offer 57 services. The fleet of the new partnership will consist of around 340 modern and efficient vessels with a total standing capacity of around 3.7 million teu.
With the introduction of the new US4 service, Nansha over 160 international trading shipping routes calling at the ports.
