Thai-listed RCL said it was introducing the RCL Far East – Latin America service with an undisclosed partner.
The service will connect China and Korea with Mexico utilising a 2,800 teu vessel with a transit time of 23 – 25 days from China and 21 days from Korea to Mexico. The service will call a rotation of Shanghai-Qingdao-Pusan-Mexico (Manzanillo).
An RCL spokesperson, “The RFL will be the new service to connect China and Korea to Mexico and will be the 1st service for RCL to expand coverage to Latin America”.
The market between China and Mexico has been growing rapidly since the second half of 2023.
The first voyage will depart Shanghai on 30 April with the RCL vessel Ganta Bhum.
