Sri Lanka goods exports slip 0.2-pct in Feb 2025, US, UK down
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s merchandise exports dropped 0.27 percent to 1,056.39 million dollars in February 2025 from a year ago with seafood, ornamental fish, produce and tea exports dropping, the island’s Export Development Board said.
Tea decreased 6.52 percent to 119.41 million US dollars, and rubber-based products were down 6.33 percent to 83.11 million US dollars, ornamental fish were down 54.27 percent to 0.75 million US dollars and seafood was down 34.24 percent to 13.6 million US dollars.
Vegetables were down 35.12 percent to 1.33 million dollars and fruits were down 22.01 percent to 2.48 million US dollars.
The US was the top buyer of Sri Lankan goods at 240.53 million US dollar down 3.63 percent, United Kingdom was down 12.30 percent to 72.73 million US dollars, and the United Arab Emirates was was down 11.62 percent to 26.16 million US dollars.
Turkey was down 12.87 percent to 8.80 million US dollars and the Japan was down 20.51 percent to 13.99 million US dollars.
